January Days

Chicken and Biscuits
Hello! I hope your January is going well. We had a wonderful time while my Mom visited and now my brother-in-law's girlfriend has been staying with us for the past 2 weeks. She's been working on an art project, so I've enjoyed her company while I work, too.

Chicken and Biscuits
I got a couple of cooking breaks while my mom was here. My favorite thing she made was chicken and biscuits.

Birds
One afternoon, we enjoyed walking around our old downtown and I found a few new treasures, including these little birds.

Vintage lace

Vintage Stationery
An beautiful stationery set.

Vintage Stationery

Candles
And creme brulee candles.

Well, that is what we've been up to. Grace's 12th birthday (yikes!) is this coming Monday, so we are having a family party Saturday evening. She's requested ribs and mashed potatoes. I'll share pictures next week!

ETA:  I don't have a recipe for the chicken and biscuits.  The stew was made from leftover roast chicken and drop biscuits on top.

Until next time...

I know it's the coldest part of winter in many parts of the country, so I thought I would share a "dreaming of spring" picture this morning. I picked up this pot of mini daffodils at the grocery store. I hope you are having a wonderful Monday!

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Hello! How was your first week of January? All of our Christmas decorations are put away and we eased back into our school schedule.

After Christmas, my parents went to Houston because my sister was expecting a baby (she had a beautiful girl!). My Dad is back home now, but my mom is on her way here for another week.

Fruit
I worked on my menu, cleaned the fridge, grocery shopped, and tidied up around the house.

Eggs

Bathroom

Candle
I just need to finish the laundry and then relax and enjoy the weekend. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too!

Valentines and Cookies

Cookies
I am watching a friend's children this afternoon. For entertainment we have homemade Valentine supplies, cookies and hot chocolate!

ETA:  Sorry for the confusion, we made homemade valentines.  The cookies and hot chocolate were from the grocery store!

A White Christmas

House
Happy New Year! We've had a wonderful holiday season and one of the best surprises was a white Christmas! The snow started Christmas Eve afternoon and went late into the evening. My parents and brother spent the week with us and we all had a fun time together.

Benjamin
A big snowball.

Snowman
A mini snowman.

Reindeer food
Making reindeer food.

New Pajamas
My mom made new pajamas for the girls and a bathrobe for Benjamin.

Christmas tree
Late Christmas Eve.

Cinnamon Rolls
Homemade cinnamon rolls for our Christmas breakfast.

Christmas dinner
We enjoyed a roast beef dinner and pumpkin pie for dessert. Phillip had the week after Christmas off, so we've been spoiled with sleeping in and lots of free time. Now it's time to get back on schedule. I'm looking forward to 2010!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and the Merry Christmas wishes!
